It’s been awhile since we brewed. Let’s face it, with STP training, moving into the city, and Jon taking a new job, we’ve fallen down on our 2nd life as brewers. However, since our friend Derek was in town this weekend, we decided to inflict our hops passion on him. The result- hopefully an intensely amazing, California style double IPA. And this bad boy has hops to go around; after the multiple rounds we added during the boil, we will later add additional hops after the primary fermentation (in about 2 weeks). If all goes well, this IPA (modeled after the famous Pliny the Elder from morebeer.com), should ring in at around 8%. We’ve aptly named the beer: MAELSTROM. It’s our first non-animal name for a beer, and is a small token to our former favorite TV show, BSG. Judge away…
